Discussion:
More snow showers are expected this evening across the area with accumulations generally between 1 and 4 inches. The axis of higher snow accumulations will most likely be West of US-131, and especially along US-31, North of I-96.
In these areas, West of US-131 occasional gusty winds up to 30 MPH will combine with this snowfall to result in isolated areas of blowing snow and reduced visibilities. This will lead to low chances (less than 15%) for snow days on Thursday morning.
North of I-96, from about Muskegon to Ludington, where accumulations should be slightly higher (on the order of 2-4 inches with locally higher amounts) snow day chances are slightly increased given the slightly increased potential snowfall.
Overall, any snow days will be particularly isolated tomorrow and overall travel impacts should be isolated and minor.
Additional, and possibly more widespread, school closures are anticipated for early next week due to the potential for dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills. Stay tuned to this blog for future updates by signing up for emails at the top of this page.
