Day 1 School Closing Outlook
Valid: Friday, January 24, 2025
Issued: Thursday, January 23, 2025 10:27 AM
Summary:
While additional snow days are possible, they are not as likely for Friday as compared to the last several days. At most, a couple of widely scatted school closures or delays are possible Friday morning.
Discussion:
An additional 1-6 inches of lake-effect snow is expected today with the swath of highest totals anticipated to be across parts of Allegan, Ottawa, and VanBuren Counties throughout the day today and possibly into the overnight hours.
Confidence in impacts to the Friday morning commute as a result of this additional snowfall is low because snow is expected to begin to wane overnight and become much more scattered in nature. Still, a relatively small area of additional overnight snowfall totals approaching 2-4 inches is certainly possible across the aforementioned areas. This snow, in addition to the ongoing snowfall and the snow that has fallen over the last several days, has the low potential to prompt some snow days or delays on Friday mornings.
An update to this outlook will be provided later this evening should we deem it necessary, but for now, I think that this forecast and the denoted probabilities accurately depict the additional risk for snow days on Friday.
