Valid: Thursday, December 5, 2024
Issued: Tuesday, December 3, 2024 6:03 PM
***NOTE: Due to the number of impactful winter weather events that have either already occurred or are still forecasted WMIWX had previously stated that we would likely only be issuing Day 1 Outlooks the evening before each day rather than doing Day 2 Outlooks in addition to the aforementioned Day 1 Outlooks in an effort to avoid confusion and to simplify WMIWX's response to these weather events. However, because impacts for the Wednesday morning school commute are expected to be minimal we have opted to issue a Day 2 Outlook for Thursday, December 5, 2024.*** Summary:
Snow day predictability for tomorrow (Wednesday) is too low to warrant an Outlook being issued at the time of writing. Winter weather impacts from the overnight clipper system for the Wednesday morning school commute are expected to be fairly benign and I forsee no closures or delays. Thursday, however, is an entirely different story. Continue reading for the latest updates on snow day potential for schools on Thursday Morning.
Day 1 School Closing Outlook:
Day 1 (Wednesday) Outlook Discussion:
A "clipper system" is expected to move through the region overnight tonight and through the early part of the day Wednesday. Accumulating snow and perhaps even some isolated areas of brief freezing rain/drizzle are possible with this system. However, as aforementioned, travel impacts resulting from this system are expected to be minimal and only constitute minor inconveniences to travel.
Therefore, WMIWX forecasters foresee no school closures or delays for Wednesday. The one caveat to Wednesday is that some schools may opt to dismiss students and staff early due to the potential for the evening commute to be impacted by our more concerning system, which is expected Wednesday night and Thursday. More on that below.
