Summary:
Long story short: Impactful winter weather continues for the foreseeable future across all of West Michigan! Read the full article for the most up-to-date details!
Discussion:
Today (Sunday):
Scattered lake effect snow showers today. Heavier bands will focus on Barry, Calhoun, and Kalamazoo counties for our central and southern areas and Lake, Clare, and Osceola Counties for our Northern areas. In these counties additional snow accumulations of 1-4 inches are possible and a Winter Weather Advisory has been posted until 6:00 PM tonight.
Monday:
Winter Storm is expected for our lakeshore counties, with total lake effect snow accumulations of 5-12+ inches expected. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for all the lakeshore counties to account for this. Elsewhere, snow showers are expected and may be impactful to travel to some degree but we will await new model guidance to come in this afternoon. The bottom line with this: is that there are good chances for an extended Thanksgiving Break for the kiddos along the lakeshore at least, if not across a good majority of the area.
Tuesday:
Snow tapers a bit during the day but will quickly return overnight. This system will favor much more widespread heavy, accumulating snow across the entire area. Again, it's a bit too early to start talking about snowfall totals for this but computer models continue to favor higher and higher accumulations for this system! Stay tuned for updates on this!
Wednesday and Beyond:
System snow gradually comes to an end but another surge of arctic air will cause the lake effect snow showers to ramp back up area-wide and favoring additional accumulating snow, especially for those under our favored NW flow snow bands. Stay tuned!
